Congratulations and welcome to Duke's Pratt School of Engineering. We look forward to introducing you to engineering this fall and helping you craft your life and career plans.
What happens now?
Now you will transition from interacting with our Admissions office to interacting with Duke's Orientation, Parent & Family Programs. This group will guide you through the process of getting housing, establishing an email account, class registration, etc.
You can explore your course options now by reviewing our first year plan for incoming freshman. The first year of classes is roughly the same for all engineering students because we want you to spend that first year finding out more about engineering before declaring your major. Be sure to sign up for EGR 10 - Introduction to Engineering. You will find more information about life as an engineering undergraduate on our Website.
When do I begin interacting with the engineering school?
We'll see you at freshman orientation in the fall, where you will meet several of our Deans. We will also assign a faculty advisor to you, so you can begin building that relationship.
Once you begin classes, you will receive a weekly email memo from the Dean providing updates on what is going on at Pratt. You will also receive a monthly e-newsletter with feature stories about student group activities, student achievements, and faculty research accomplishments. And throughout the engineering school buildings, you will see plasma screens advertising engineering seminars and events. Don't forget our Friday Engineering Socials at Twinnie's Cafe in the Fitzpatrick Center, where you can meet other students and socialize with faculty.
