Before You Ask Connie...

Connie Simmons is Pratt's Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs. She's an excellent resource for all Pratt undergrads and you should not hesitate to sign up for an appointment with her. But before you do that, see if we've covered your question already in the policies and procedures section of our website.

Pratt and Duke offer a wealth of opportunities for its students, including undergraduate research experiences; cultural, ethnic, religious and specialized engineering students groups; and a world class team of researchers and faculty to learn from. Be your number one advocate. Students share responsibility with Pratt faculty for the quality and richness of their education. Be an advocate for yourself: get the advising you need, ask for help when you need it, get involved in Pratt and university activities. Multiple avenues exist for students to explore their interests.

Your First Year

The first year of study in the Pratt School of Engineering is largely common to all engineers, with seven of the eight first year courses being completely transferable between the five engineering majors. Devise your first year plan here.

Finding Research Opportunities

You know there is research to do, but where are all the research opportunities hiding? Doing research as an undergraduate can help you figure out what you want to do in your career, whether that leads to graduate school, a job in industry, or work in another field entirely.
